In Wellfleet, the Shellfish Promotion and Tasting promotion doing its part to help the shellfish industry.
Executive Director Michelle Insley says S.P.A.T. will purchase freshly harvested oysters and clams from Wellfleet’s Shellfishermen and women.
The harvesters will take their product to a shellfish distribution facility who will process and deliver it to community kitchens who will then cook and serve to the public free of charge.
54 harvesters are taking part so far.
Meanwhile in Dennis, In Dennis, officials say the season has come to an end for Oyster, Scallop and Shellfishing.
