The Massachusetts House has agreed with the Senate and sent a bill to committee that would double the tax on cigarettes.
Lawmakers are considering measures designed to reduce the number of cigarette butts that are thrown into streams and rivers and in the ocean.
The current excise tax is $3.51 a pack.
