Steve Xiarhos, the retired Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief and now candidate for the Fifth Barnstable State Reps seat says he cannot support the so-called Transportation Climate Initiative.
Xiarhos says he understands the importance of the environment, but that it should be part of individual choice rather than mandates to do that.
He says he will vote no on the issue. Xiarhos is one of two Republicans running for the seat that Randy Hunt is retiring from.
Tom Keyes, the former Sandwich Selectman is also running for the seat.
