Thirty-year-old Jermaine Omoregie is being held on $5,000 cash bail after a car chase between Norwell and Yarmouth.
The original call was for a stolen car but the attorney for the defendant says Omoregie had permission for the car.
Prosecutors telling a judge Omoregie has a lengthy criminal record.
Prosecutors say the 30 year old could be held for as long as 90 days because of previous cases in other jurisdictions.
