It has been 30 years since the Barnstable County Charter has been written and no one has changed it since then. Right now it looks like the Assembly of Delegates is moving toward a change.
The Chairman of the County Commissioners is Ronald Bergstrom; he wants to protect the process. Commissioners unanimously approved a special counsel to review changes in the charter.
That person hasn’t been chosen yet. No timetable for the hiring has been set.
Officials say the new attorney will bill his time by the hour.
