The sale of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station is complete. Entergy has sold the mothballed plant to New Jersey-based Holtec International, a company that specializes in the storage and transportation of nuclear waste.
Holtec promises to decommission the nuclear plant in eight years, well below the 60 years allowed by federal rules.
Federal regulators approved the transfer of the plant's operating license last week, and the deal was completed yesterday.
