At least nine white sharks were spotted in Cape Cod Bay on Monday. That's according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, which began field work for the 2019 white shark research season with the state Division of Marine Fisheries.
One shark, named Ashley Grace by researchers, was previously tagged. The conservancy says most of the sharks were at least two miles off the coast of Wellfleet.
The group said on Saturday that a seal carcass with bite wounds was spotted off Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge by a sportfishing boat.
