Several with Cape Ties Implicated in College Admissions Cheating Scandal

Dozens of people are facing charges in what federal prosecutors are calling the largest ever college admissions scam.Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling says wealthy parents paid a California businessman millions of dollars to help get their kids into top colleges.Alleged ringleader Rick Singer yesterday pleaded guilty to multiple counts of conspiracy and obstruction of justice, and will be sentenced in June.Actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman are among the parents charged in the case.

Several individuals with Cape Cod ties were among those arrested including 59-year old John Wilson of Hyannisport, a former GAP executive, 52-year old Gordon Ernst, the former executive director of Vineyard Youth Tennis on Martha’s Vineyard, and 41-year old John Vandemoer, the head sailing coach at Stanford University and Cape Cod Academy grad who pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts to conspiracy to commit racketeering.
