WE CAN Names New Executive Director

WE CAN News Release:

Harwich Port, MA, March 4, 2019 – WE CAN, Women’s Empowerment through Cape Area Networking, an organization dedicated to helping Cape Cod women achieve lasting positive change for themselves and their families, today announced that Lisa Guyon was selected as Executive Director and will start on March 25th. “WE CAN sought a strategic leader who had a history of vast contribution to the Cape Cod community and a strong track record of organizational growth,” said WE CAN Board President, Lori Pinard. “In Lisa, the staff and Board agree, we have found both.”

“Lisa is a bright, articulate and energetic woman who is well-known and highly regarded for her leadership and significant contributions in the Cape community,” Pinard added, “She brings with her a deep understanding of WE CAN, its mission and values, having supported us and many of our collaborating partners for several years through her work and personally. What sets Lisa apart and will bring tremendous value to our next phase is her combination of non-profit and for-profit expertise, including her recent health and human services experience at Cape Cod Healthcare.”

Lisa began her career in the for-profit sector in commercial real estate and the hospitality industry. In 2004, she founded Building Impact, an award-winning non-profit organization in Boston encouraging corporate citizenship in small and medium businesses. She went on to provide leadership at Housing Assistance Corporation in Hyannis. Most recently as Director of Community Benefits and Grants Administration at Cape Cod Healthcare where she directs a system-wide community benefits program and manages relationships with community organizations and coalitions, task forces, public health providers and governmental agencies.

“It is an absolute honor to join the WE CAN team as Executive Director,” Lisa said. “I am inspired by the critical and unique services that WE CAN provides to women across Cape Cod each and every day.

I look forward to working with the staff, board of directors, volunteers and donors to expand WE CAN's reach while meeting our mission to empower Cape Cod women with services that inspire hope and bring increased opportunity, self-sufficiency and stability.”

Lisa currently serves on the Board for Community Development Partnership and founded and volunteers for the Cape Cod Pet Collective. She previously served on the Board of Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP) including serving as President of the Board of Directors in 2013 and 2014.

Lisa has been recognized as a Social Innovator for her non-profit business ventures by the Social Innovation Forum in Cambridge, MA and was selected as a ‘40 under 40’ rising business leader by the Boston Business Journal and Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine. She is a Cape Cod native, graduating from Harwich High School and Wheaton College and currently lives in West Barnstable.
