A pretrial hearing for actor Kevin Spacey is set for today in Nantucket District Court, although Spacey isn't required to appear.The actor pleaded not guilty to sexual assault charges in January after being accused of groping an 18-year-old busboy at a restaurant on Nantucket in 2016.
Last week, Spacey's defense team filed several new court motions, including asking for cell phone records from the accuser.Lawyers are also requesting copies of fees and retainer agreements between the man and his family and their attorney, arguing the plaintiff has a significant financial motive to lie about the allegations.
While Spacey is not required to appear in the courtroom, he has been instructed to be available by phone should the need arise.
