Yarmouth P.D. News Release:
Retired Fairfax County Sheriff Robert L. Cutts recently made a special donation the Yarmouth Police Department in honor of fallen K9 Sergeant Sean M. Gannon.
Sheriff Cutts was raised in Harwich and graduated from Harwich High 1977. He served in the United States Army for six years as a Military Police Officer in Germany. After his service, he worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Fairfax County Virginia Sheriff's Office for 30 years until he retired in 2015.
Robert, a gentle giant at 6’6”, 400lbs, has won six World Power Lifting Championships and the most recent being at the 2015 World Police and Fire Games.
Robert dedicated his gold championship medal from this event to the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department. The medal is encased in the beautiful shadow box in this picture. The motivational saying inside the shadow box says“Bravery is not absence of fear but Action in the face of fear.”
Robert still competes on a world level and last year was certified as a Special Olympics powerlifting coach. He is also an ambassador for the 2019 United States Police and Fire Championships and World Police and Fire Games. His goal is to have powerlifting in every high school on Cape Cod and to have more public safety departments involved in the police and fire world games and hopefully have a team from Cape Cod compete in the memory of Sergeant Sean M. Gannon in 2023 games in Calgary Canada.
The shadow box now hangs proudly in the YPD Fitness Center.
Thank you Robert for your thoughtful dedication and donation.
