Kelley Foundation Announces New Nursing Scholarships for 4C Students

Kelley Foundation News Release:

(Cape Cod, MA) – The Edward Bangs Kelley and Elza Kelley Foundation has announced a new scholarship fund which will support nursing students enrolled in the RN-BS program at Cape Cod Community College (CCCC). The program is a partnership between CCCC and the College of Nursing & Health Sciences at UMASS Boston, offering convenience and flexibility though courses held at CCCC and practical experience at Cape Cod Hospital.

Under the auspices of The Cape Cod Foundation, the fund was initially seeded with over $200,000 from The Kelley Foundation and The Palmer and Jane D. Davenport Foundation. Plans are in place for both organizations to continue to contribute to the fund on an ongoing basis. The scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in the RN-BS program who are primarily based on Cape Cod with some reach into the Plymouth and Southeastern Massachusetts region. All scholarships will be awarded for one year with the option of additional years based on G.P.A. and other factors.

Bert Talerman, President of The Kelley Foundation, explains the importance of the scholarships,

“We believe that our financial support can make a significant difference in someone’s ability to participate in this program and pursue their goal of becoming a nurse. Their success and the ongoing development of a strong medical workforce across Cape Cod is crucial to our community as a whole.”

This scholarship program has a rolling deadline and applications are now being accepted for the initial scholarships which have a February 15, 2019 application due date. Interested students will find an application and additional details at www.kelleyfoundation.org/nursing .
