In 1928, the results of Herbert Hoover's presidential election victory became the first message transmitted over the electric sign around the top of the "New York Times" building in New York. 

In 1947, "Meet the Press" debuted on NBC as a local program in Washington, D.C..

In 1958, Marilyn Monroe finished filming the classic movie "Some Like It Hot."

In 1967, "The Phil Donahue Show" debuted on a local station in Dayton, Ohio.  The program later went into syndication and stayed on the air for 29 years.

In 1997, a Los Angeles judge denied a request by Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and his wife, actress Pamela Anderson, to block Internet Entertainment Group from offering free viewings of a steamy video showing the couple having sex. 

In 2001, The series "24" starring Kiefer Sutherland made its debut on Fox.

In 2005, at least 18 people were killed after a deadly tornado ripped through parts of Indiana and Kentucky.  The storm injured dozens of others and left thousands without power.

In 2015, former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb was sentenced to 18-days behind bars after pleading guilty to an "extreme DUI."
