Great white sharks off the coast of Cape Cod and the danger they present to beach-goers will be the subject of a community meeting on the Outer Cape next week.
The meeting will take place at the Wellfleet Council on Aging at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 27.
Among those invited to attend the gathering are representatives of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, local officials and lawmakers, as well as shark expert Dr. Greg Skomal of the state Division of Marine Fisheries.
Last Saturday, Arthur Medici of Revere became the first person in Massachusetts in more than 80 years to be killed by a shark. In August, a Scarsdale, New York man was bitten by a shark. He continues to recover from his injuries.
