The Barnstable County Agricultural Society has awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 18 local students.
Each year, the organization awards scholarships to qualifying seniors and college students on the Cape who are planning, or have entered into, a course of study in the following categories: Agriculture, Aquaculture, Green Sciences, Turf/Grass Management, Marine Sciences, Equine Sciences, Veterinarian, Family and Consumer Sciences to include Interior Design, Clothing and Textiles, Culinary Arts, Nutrition and Food Preservation, or Management in a related field.
The scholarships help the organization to preserve and promote agriculture and related fields in Barnstable County, and to improve the Cape’s economy through education. Scholarships are funded through proceeds from Barnstable County Fair ticket sales and vendor fees.
