The Big 3 Fishing Tournament, held on July 13, raised more than $385,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands. This represents the most money raised at the event since its inception 5 years ago.
More than 300 people and 43 boats took part in this year’s tournament. The biggest fish caught was a 261 lb. tuna by Sam Jaxtimer on “Thresher”. In the bass & blues category, the winners were Jeff Perry on ”First Light” with a 38 lb. bass, and Fran Kenney on “Gabbiano” with a 13.8 lb. Blue Fish.
JR Mell, Regional Director of BBBS of Cape Cod & the Islands said the event brings together a love of fishing and community, all while making a direct impact on the Cape & Islands and the kids the BBBS serve.
With the help of the Big 3 Fishing Tournament, BBBS is on track to serve over 400 kids by 2020. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering for BBBS of Cape Cod & the Islands, or making a donation, please visit www.capebigs.org.
