The Yarmouth Board of Selectmen meets tonight and on the agenda is an update on the Vineyard Wind project. Vineyard Wind was awarded a contract by the state to build the first offshore wind farm in Massachusetts, south of Martha’s Vineyard.
Vineyard Wind had proposed two sites to bring cables from the wind farm to the mainland; Brayton Point in Somerset and Lewis Bay between Yarmouth and Hyannis.
In June, the Secretary of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, Matthew Beaton, requested a more comprehensive “Environmental Impact Report” from Vineyard Wind. In filing his report, Beaton allowed for another thirty day comment period for residents to share their concerns relative to the project.
Those concerns are expected to be heard at tonight’s BOS meeting which gets underway at 6 p.m.
