Cape & Islands Airports in Line for Federal Grants

The U.S. Department of Transportation on Monday announced the Federal Aviation Administration will award nearly $660 million in airport infrastructure grants as part of the $3 billion Airport Improvement Program funding for airports across the U.S.

This second increment of funding provides 450 grants that will fund 664 infrastructure projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles, and snow removal equipment.

Locally, Chatham Municipal Airport will receive more than $328,000 to update the Airport Master Plan Study.

Nantucket Memorial Airport will receive more than $382,000 to install an emergency generator and $675,000 to conduct an environmental study.

Provincetown Municipal Airport will receive $100,000 to acquire snow removal equipment and $2.97 million for Environmental Mitigation and Rehabilitation of service roads and taxiways.

 Martha’s Vineyard Airport in Vineyard Haven will be receiving $10.2 million for runway reconstruction.
