A portion of Cotuit Bay has been re-opened for shell fishing.
That area, between Handy Point and Bluff Point, was ordered closed to shell fishing on July 5th by the Division of Marine Fisheries after a porta-potty on Ropes Beach was destroyed by someone setting off illegal fireworks.
Officials say the cleanup of the area is complete and is safe for shell fishing.
