Several wetland projects on Cape Cod and the Islands will be receiving state funds. That announcement coming Tuesday from the Baker Administration.
The majority of the funds will go to the Friends of Herring River, the group spearheading the Herring River Estuary Restoration project in Wellfleet and Truro.
One of the largest ecological restorations projects in the northeast, the Herring River project will reconstruct the main dike at the mouth of the river and improve water quality by reconnecting the estuary to the ocean.
The Department of Fish and Game will allocate $700,000 to the project.
The Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation in Chilmark will receive $15,000 for the permitting process for the plans to replace the culverts on Mill Brook.
