Cape Abilities has received a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation under its Economic Mobility for Individuals and Families initiative in support of Cape Abilities' Employment & Vocational Skills Training program, located at the Cape Abilities Farm in Dennis.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the unemployment rate for people with disabilities was 10.5% in 2016, which is more than twice the rate for people with no disability (4.6%). This disparity in employment is also true on Cape Cod, and Cape Abilities is committed to changing this reality and finding meaningful community-based employment for people with disabilities.
Cape Abilities' Employment & Vocational Skills Training program provides an accepting place where individuals proceed at a pace that is suited to their assessed needs and interests, in a setting that provides opportunities for them to build on their successes & gain self-confidence while developing skills that set them up for future success.
