An 8th grad Sandwich STEM Academy student will be heading to Atlanta, Georgia next month to compete in the National History Bee Finals.
The Sandwich Enterprise reports that Nathan Metcalf earned the trip from his performance at the regional finals and that he also qualified for the U.S. Geography Olympiad middle school and elementary national championships.
Both events take place in Atlanta starting on June 1.
Nathan tells the Enterprise that despite being a history champion, his academic interests lie mostly within the sciences. After high school Nathan plans to pursue a degree in theoretical physics or engineering.
