President Trump Says Cohen's Recording Is 'Inconceivable' 'Perhaps Illegal'

US-POLITICS-TRUMP-DEPARTS

President Donald Trump responded to a report that found his personal lawyer Michael Cohen had secretly recorded a conversation they had about paying a porn star to keep her from discussing an affair that she claimed to have had with Trump in 2006.

In a Saturday morning tweet, Trump said that it was "inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer’s office" and then added that it was "even more inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client."

Inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer’s office (early in the morning) - almost unheard of. Even more inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client - totally unheard of & perhaps illegal. The good news is that your favorite President did nothing wrong!

Trump ended the tweet by saying "your favorite President did nothing wrong!" and his current lawyer Rudy Guiliani agrees. He told the New York Times that the recording is "powerful exculpatory evidence," that shows Trump did not have "any knowledge of [the payment] in advance."
