The Edgartown Board of Selectmen voted on Monday night to support a town meeting article to change its name to Select Board.
Similar action has been taken across Cape Cod, but on Martha's Vineyard, five of the six towns still call their executive committee a board of selectmen.
Currently, the only Vineyard town that goes by select board is Tisbury.
A group is pushing for all the island's towns to make the switch.
