Plaintiffs Reach Settlement In Priest Abuse Case
1/26/19
Two plaintiffs are receiving two-hundred-thousand dollars each in a settlement over claims of Catholic Priest sexual abuse.
The Cape Cod Times reports the settlements were announced on Tuesday regarding allegations against Monsignor Maurice Souza, who was assigned at St. Anthony's Parish in East Falmouth from 1977 to 1986, by two altar servers.
Souza died in 1996.
Daniel Cronin, the former Bishop of the Fall River Diocese, was named in the lawsuit based on allegations that he knew or should have known about the abuse, but the settlement notes that Cronin neither admits nor denies that it happened.
