Owners Of Home On Edge Of Dune Hope To Build Seawall
The owners of an Outer Cape house that is hanging over the edge of a rapidly-eroding dune are fighting the town's decision not to help.
The property known as the Blasch House on Chequesset Neck Road in Wellfleet was seeking permission to build a seawall, but the town's Conservation Commission said no and the wall was opposed by the Superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
The decision is now being appealed to the State Department of Environmental Protection.
The house faced lawsuits after it was built a decade ago and the town then passed a zoning amendment limiting the size of houses in the town's National Seashore District.
