A Yamouth man was arrested Sunday night after a citizen reported seeing a gray truck that was reportedly all over the road.
Responding officers observed the vehicle attempting to enter traffic on route 28 from the Salvation Army Parking Lot.......as it did it struck a Chevy Avalanche forcing it up and over the curb.
The truck’s driver, 50 year old Brendan Murphy, initially failed to stop for police, but when he did, police say he smelled of alcohol, his eyes were glassy and blood shot, he speech was slurred and he had no idea he had struck another vehicle.
Murphy got out of the truck and was given a series of standardized field sobriety tests. He failed those and became aggressive, refusing verbal commands and threatening police officers.
Murphy was arrested and taken to YPD Headquarters where he was held overnight.
He was charged with OUI – liquor, operating a motor vehicle to endanger, failure to use care in turning and assault.
Murphy was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday and released on personal recognizance pending a pre-trial hearing on March 4th.
