The Votes Approving a D-Y New School Stand

D-Y Recounts/School Approval Stands

1/12/19

The narrow margin for approval of a new school in the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District became even narrower this week after a recount of the votes cast in each town.

The December 4th election seeking approval for 117-million dollars for a new middle school passed by 32 votes and a recount was requested.

In Dennis, three more "no" votes were found on Thursday after a hand recount, bringing the district wide approval number down to just 29.

Dennis, as an individual town, approved the new educational facility last month.

In Yarmouth the original results went the other way with 1,995 votes “no” to 1, 502 “yes”. Friday’s  recount in Yarmouth found two less “yes” votes and two more “no” votes bringing the final recounted tally to 1,957 votes against the proposed new school and 15-hundred in favor.

So while the vote supporting building the new regional middle school narrowed to 25, the ballot question still passed.
