Falmouth PD/Car Into Water
1/10/19
Falmouth Police responded Wednesday night to a report of a vehicle in the water off of the end of Maravista Avenue.
At the scene, officers found the car upright and just beyond the water line.
The 28 year old female operator had already been helped out of the car by a witness to the crash and was transported to Falmouth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Falmouth Department of Public Works responded with a front end loader to assist the local tow company in pulling the vehicle out of the water and sand.
The crash remains under investigation, but Falmouth police say, in a report on their Facebook page, that they know that the car was travelling southerly on Maravista Ave at a high rate of speed and did not stop for the stop sign, crossed over Menauhant Rd., went into the sand and travelled about 50 yards before coming to rest in the water.
The name of the driver has not been released.
