Coast Guard Suspends Search For Missing Fishermen
1/3/19
The Coast Guard has suspended its search for two missing fishermen near Block Island.
The fishing vessel "Mistress" capsized and sank at around 1:30 A.M. Tuesday. A nearby vessel was able to rescue one man from a life boat.
The two missing men are identified as boat owner Oscar Diaz and his nephew, John Ansay; both were said to have donned survival suits.
The Coast Guard says multiple aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod and a 47 foot Motor Lifeboat Crew from Station Menemsha were involved in the search effort.
Crews searched for approximately 72 hours covering more than 21-hundred square nautical miles.
