Whelan/Gannon Benefits
1/2/19
A bill which will allow murdered Yarmouth Police K-9 Sgt. Sean Gannon’s pension benefits to match those of the rank of Sergeant has been passed by the Massachusetts House.
Gannon was posthumously promoted to Sergeant after being shot and killed in the line of duty last April. The special legislation was required to gain full pension benefits for that rank for Gannon’s wife and family.
Governor Charlie Baker proposed the bill which is identical to a bill passed for Weymouth Sgt. Michael Chesna who was killed in the line of duty in July.
The bill now goes to the Governor for his signature.
