Barnstable Police/Drug Bust
12/8/18
Since October, members of the Barnstable Police Department Narcotics Unit and the Cape Cod D.E.A. office have been conducting a heroin and fentanyl distribution investigation targeting 27 year old Jonathan Cotell of Hyannis.
Detectives learned that Cotell was making weekly trips to Lawrence in order to purchase hundreds of grams of heroin and fentanyl at wholesale prices and bring them back to Cape Cod to sell to area dealers and users.
Police learned that on Thursday Cotell was planning on making another trip to Lawrence for more drugs and followed him to Lawrence and back. They stopped his vehicle on Route 132 in Hyannis around 1 A.M. Friday.
Police found approximately 175 grams of fentanyl, with a street value of 35-thousand dollars, plus 28 grams of cocaine, hidden in the vehicle.
Cotell was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl and cocaine.
He was arraigned in Barnstable District Court yesterday.
