State Police/Two Arrested For Firearm Possession
11/15/18
On Sunday, November 11th, a Mass. State Trooper was on patrol when he observed a vehicle in front of him drifting over the center yellow line on Yarmouth Road in Barnstable.
The trooper stopped the car driven by 56 year old Clinton Davidson from Nantucket. He saw that the passenger, 30 year old Ryan Banton of Hyannis was not wearing a seatbelt.
When the officer returned to his cruiser to write the citations, he saw Banton lean quickly over the center of the vehicle out of sight and then popping up looking toward the trooper.
After a quick conversation with Banton, and fearing that he was attempting to retrieve or conceal a weapon, the trooper removed Banton from the vehicle.
Barnstable Officers arrived as backup and removed Davidson from the car.
A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded 380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and both men were arrested.
Davidson and Banton were both charged with carrying a loaded firearm, firearm with defaced serial number, possession of a firearm and ammunition with an F.I.D. card and possession carrying a firearm.
They were arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Tuesday.
