Barnstable PD/Child Porn Arrest

Following a lengthy investigation, focused on a computer in Mashpee which was distributing child pornography images and videos, Barnstable Police Detectives made an arrest on Wednesday.
Officers from Barnstable, Mashpee and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant on Wampanoag Drive in the Mashpee Village Apartments and arrested 66 year old Ronald Walsh.
The on scene investigation revealed at least one computer had the file sharing software utilized to distribute child pornography.
Several digital devices were seized and are being examined as the investigation continues.
Walsh, who is a children’s boating instructor for “Boat Safe Massachusetts” and at several Cape Cod yacht clubs, was charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
He was arraigned Thursday in Falmouth District Court and released on personal recognizance with conditions.
Possession of child pornography carries a prison sentence of no more than 5 years..........dissemination of child pornography carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years with a maximum of 20 years.
