BPD/Drug Arrest
11/1/18
Early Wednesday morning a Barnstable Police Officer on patrol observed a male subject walking on Main Street, near Pearl and meeting up with two other men.
The officer observed what he believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction just prior to the men splitting up.
A couple of blocks away, police stopped 24 year old Derek Jones of Plymouth. During the investigation Jones pulled a police style expandable baton out of his pocket, which was immediately secured by an officer.
A search of Jones found him in possession of 21 bags of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, along with two cell phones and over 800-dollars in cash.
Jones was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
He was arraigned in Barnstable District Court.
