Mashpee Town Meeting: Raze-and-Replace Passes, Cell Tower Fails
Following up on Mashpee Town Meeting action from Monday, voters overwhelmingly passed the controversial "raze and replace" article.
The proposal, which was supported by the building industry and the Mashpee Planning Board, gives property owners more flexibility to re-build non-conforming structures.
Town meeting voters also rejected a proposal to include a town-owned parcel of land in the wireless overlay district for a new cellphone tower.
Town officials estimate the nearly six-hundred voters who attended constituted one of the largest-ever turnouts for a Mashpee Town Meeting.
