Wareham Police were dispatched shortly before 8 o’clock Monday night, for a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of County and Fearing Hill Roads.
Arriving at the scene, officers found that pick-up truck had struck a utility pole.
The driver of the truck was transported to Tobey Hospital where he was treated and released.
An investigation by police, however, determined that 36 year old Anthony Lindquist of Plymouth was driving under the influence.
He was arrested at the hospital and charged with O.U.I. and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Lindquist reportedly loudly protested his arrest, refusing to cooperate and two officers were needed to put him into the cruiser, where he continued to rant and claimed he was friends with police officers and state troopers.
He was arraigned in Wareham District Court on Tuesday.
