Tisbury/New Police Chief
9/14/18
The Town of Tisbury has a new police chief.
The Vineyard Gazette reports that Sturbridge Police Administrative Lieutenant Mark Saloio has been offered the position.
Saloio was the lone candidate for the job to replace Chief Daniel Hanavan, who is retiring.
He has been in law enforcement for 25 years and has served in virtually every position in the Sturbridge Police Department including acting chief.
Soloio told selectmen he has spent time on the island both in the summer and off season and that he and his wife had been making it a priority to move to the Vineyard even before he applied for the job.
He said he estimates he has between 7 and 8 years before retirement and that he would like to finish his career on the Vineyard.
