Shark Tooth Fragments Being DNA-Tested to Officially Determine Species
9/12/18Shark researchers are testing the DNA of tooth fragments left in a victim of an attack on Cape Cod.
Division of Marine Fisheries shark expert Dr. Greg Skomal tells the Boston Herald he's already confident that the shark that bit William Lytton off Longnook Beach in Truro in August was a great white, but the DNA test result will confirm it.
He says the test might also determine the size of the shark.
Meanwhile, Lytton, of Scarsdale, New York, says he plans on making jewelry out of the teeth when researchers are done with them.
