Yarmouth/Plastic Bags
8/25/18
On Thursday, August 30th, the Town of Yarmouth will join 7 other Cape towns in banning thin-ply plastic bags.
The plastic bag ban was passed by voters at the May 2017 town meeting.
A notice on the Yarmouth website says the town’s decision was based on environmental concerns, and was in-line with the other bag bans on the cape.
Statewide, such-laws have been passed in 80 cities and towns including Boston.
Plastic bags exempt from the ban include those used for newspaper delivery and those used to wrap frozen or damp items such meat or fish.
