Nantucket Airport/Smoke In Plane
8/21/18
Nantucket Memorial Airport and town emergency personnel responded Monday to a report of a smoke condition in the cabin of an American Airlines plane.
The Inquirer and Mirror reports that about 70 passengers and the crew were evacuated from the aircraft as it was preparing to push back from the gate for a flight to Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.
There were no injuries and the cause of the smoke has not been determined.
The plane was flown off-island for inspection and repairs without any passengers on board.
Another aircraft was flown into Nantucket yesterday afternoon from Pittsburgh to pick up the stranded passengers.
