Bourne Bridge Work Rescheduled
8/14/18
There is good news for Cape motorists today as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Mass-dot announced that planned maintenance on the Bourne Bridge, scheduled to take place this Fall, has been moved to the spring of 2019.
In a memorandum of understanding for ongoing coordination on plans for the bridges, signed in June, it is acknowledged that under the Cape Cod Canal Federal Navigation Project, the Bourne and Sagamore bridges are owned by the Army Corps of Engineers, which has the responsibility to operate and maintain them.
Furthermore, the M.O.U. states that it is the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s responsibility to operate and maintain the state highway system, including the highways and infrastructure approaching the bridges.
The “FIX Coalition” on Cape Cod has praised the increasingly coordinated efforts by the Army Corps and Massdot.
