The Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, “America’s Tall Ship”, will be visiting New Bedford next weekend.
The 295 foot Barque is set to dock at the state pier on Friday and will have a free, public tour schedule on Friday from 1 to 4 P.M.., Saturday from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. and Sunday from 1 to 5 P.M.
The Coast Guard Band, made up of 55 musicians and located at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut will perform a series of pop-up concerts on Friday throughout the towns of New Bedford and Fairhaven.
A permanent crew of 8 officers and 37 enlisted personnel maintain the Eagle and guide Coast Guard Academy Cadets through an in-port and underway training schedule dedicated to learning the skills of navigation, damage control, watch standing, engineering and deck seamanship.
