Wareham PD/Liquor Store Check Part Two
8/2/18
On Tuesday Wareham Police began a second round of compliance checks of liquor stores in the town.
The first round was completed on July 26th where three stores failed the checks, including the Jug Shop at 219 Main Street.
On Tuesday the Jug Shop failed the check again with the owner of the store, 68 year old Adelaide Deponte of Mansfield, allegedly selling alcohol to a minor.
She was the same person who reportedly sold liquor to a minor in July.
When approached by a detective, she allegedly told the officer “you guys are setting me up!”
In addition to the Jug Shop, Mayflower Liquors on Cranberry Highway also failed the check. 65 year old Aruna Johar of Plymouth reportedly sold alcohol to a minor at that location.
Both individuals will be facing the criminal charge of selling liquor to a person under 21.
The Wareham Police Department will be continuously following up on every business in the town that has a liquor license to ensure compliance with the law.
