Wareham Police Officers responded to a report of breaking and entering in progress Saturday night on Ryder street.
On arrival neighbors told officers that a man had broken into a shed and walked out carrying a bag.
As police were checking the area they heard a woman scream that a man was in her house, adjacent to the location of the original break.
23 year old Kealynd Schalet of Roslindale had gone to the basement of the home and barricaded himself in a room.
Officers kicked the door down and ordered Schalet onto the ground when he attempted to flee, and placed him under arrest.
Police also found the stolen items from the nearby shed.
Schalet was charged with numerous crimes including breaking and entering for a felony, larceny from a building, trespassing. b & e for a misdemeanor and interfering with a police officer.
He was arraigned in Wareham District Court Monday.
