Water Conservation in Effect for Hyannis

The Hyannis Water Board, at their regularly scheduled public meeting, has determined that the potential for a water shortage exists due to the limited availability of water production wells and the need to purchase water from adjacent water systems.

The declaration of a State of Water Supply Conservation is appropriate to ensure an adequate supply of water for drinking and fire protection is available, along with maintaining compliance with the Water Management Act.

Restrictions for Hyannis residents include outdoor watering on odd or even numbered days coinciding with home address numbers, outdoor watering permitted only from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., and the filling of swimming pools is prohibited.

The Hyannis Water Board says restrictions will be lifted once the conditions requiring the State of Water Supply Conservation no longer exist.
