Swat Team Response After A Report Of Possible Gun Shots
5/17/18
A Swat Team responded to a home in Harwich on Tuesday night after a false alarm of gunshots.
Massachusetts State Police responded to the home on Long Pond Drive around 9:30 P.M. after a report of a domestic incident involving what the caller thought was gunfire.
Police reportedly detained one person, but called the Swat Team in after other people inside a residence refused to come out.
After about 15 minutes everyone finally came out of the house and were detained by police. A search of the residence found no one else inside.
Everyone was finally released without further incident.
Police say several of the people involved were allegedly highly intoxicated, which is believed to have played a role in the incident.
It was determined that the gunshot sound that prompted the police call was a motorcycle backfiring.
