Nantucket/Construction Accident
5/9/18
A construction accident on Nantucket Monday seriously injured two Island men.
The Inquirer and Mirror says the men were working at a Surfside Road building site when a second floor-gable-end wall fell on them as it was being raised for installation.
Co-workers managed to free the men before rescue crews arrived and they were reportedly alert and talking when EMT’s began to treat them.
The injuries occurred on the second floor of the unfinished building and the stairs had not yet been built so the injured men were brought to the ground by a scissor lift.
The names and conditions of the workers have not been released.
The Nantucket Building Department is investigating the accident.
