Wareham Police arrested a shoplifter attempting to steal a television from Wal-Mart Friday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 10 o’clock at Wareham crossing.
A plainclothes officer initially became suspicious of a man in the parking lot wheeling around the TV in a carriage, frantically asking customers for a ride.
The officer told the suspect he would give him a ride as soon as he purchased an item at Lowe’s; during this time, the officer contacted Wal-Mart and confirmed a description of the man and model of television stolen.
As the undercover officer left Lowe’s, the suspect became agitated and said he needed to leave right away. At that point, other officers arrived and apprehended him.
37-year-old Scott Mixon, of New Bedford, was arrested and charged with Shoplifting, 3rd offense; he was arraigned in Wareham District Court.
