A fire broke out Saturday afternoon at Joint Base Cape Cod.
Joint Base firefighters responded to the 3 acre brush fire, which started on the range.
Crews began dousing the flames ahead of the growing blaze to prevent it from spreading to a nearby rocky and hilly area; firefighters were concerned extinguishing the flames would become significantly more difficult if the fire reached that point.
Bourne and Mashpee fire departments provided mutual aid to help battle the blaze which was eventually knocked down.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, however officials believe it may have been electrical in nature caused by a power surge.
